Feeling Lethargic

I am feeling so lethargic today. I hate this feeling above all other feelings. I am a high energy person and when I don’t have energy I get extremely grouchy. I can see it on my own face. When I feel this way I just look angry. For me what causes this is fatigue. I can go so hard and multitask so many projects that I wear myself out thinking I can do everything. Then I get tired and still see all that has to be completed and that bothers me because I want to work but I can’t concentrate. It’s a horrible place to be and that is how I woke up today. Right now I am experiencing this because I am preparing to depart for vacation. That requires getting the trailer and boat ready to go. So I am multitasking several things at home as well as several things at church. Don’t get me wrong I am not complaining I love it this way. I am a project person and I like to have things going on. It is just easy for me to over do it and that is what I have done. All I can think about is laying at the lake in a lawn chair with absolutely NO DECISIONS to make. That sounds so great! But back to reality how can I snap out of this lethargic state so I can get some work done?

Since I was struggling I decided to check the etymology of lethargy. Turns out that the word originates from the Greek word lethargos which means forgetful. I think that is why I start feeling lethargic. I forget why I exist. I am hear to please and serve Christ. So I am just going to keep reminding myself all day why I exist. This should snap me out of my lethargic state. I feel better already!!

We watched a sermon this past week about Elijah on the run from Jezebel. He had accomplished great things but was basically tired. The Lord told him to eat, rest, and go back to doing what you are meant to do. Go on your vacation, eat, rest, then come back and do what you are meant to do. Have a much needed and blessed vacation.

I have always wished I would have taken more vacations through
the years of my ministry. I am glad you make room for yours!
We will all be here when you return.
