I am amazed by how many people I counsel who grew up in homes where their parents didn’t attend church.  You would think right here in Oklahoma, the buckle of the Bible belt, that people would attend church as kids. I mean there is a church on every corner.  But more often than not when I ask people to tell me a little bit about their spiritual background they say their parents never took them to church.  Here is what is striking.  Almost without fail all of them say they either attended a youth group with a friend or Vacation Bible School during the summer.  Many of them can point to a specific time in which they made a decision for Christ while attending.  That tells me that these are two very important ministries of the church.  I want to challenge you to get involved in VBS at your church.  Harrah Church is hosting a VBS the first week of August, sign up and change a life forever.  Bring some neighborhood kids with you.  It may be the only spiritual foundation they have to fall back on.
