This is really good stuff!!! “I challenge parents to accept the truth that developing people who live inside of their Shelter is the most important job they have to achieve. It is not about protecting and isolating our children from the dangerous culture we live in; rather, it is about developing fierce warriors FOR a dangerous world.”
Thanks for your willingness to share your
experience as a father and a husband with
everyone who reads your book. I will pray
for a great conference in Frisco this month.
Through the years in the past, before I came to Harrah church I often pondered what the real challenge is life is. With determination you can become anything. You just need to study; work hard and you will get it if you really want it. You will also need to take the necessary steps so you get it. I came to the conclusion that your life style or how much money you make is not the challenge, it’s a benefit. Once my wife and I had a first child, and then second, then 3rd (we have 4) is when I started thinking about this theory again. I looked at society, neighbors, groups, and looked back at my kids. I feel the real challenge in life is developing good outstanding citizens to take your place to help better the world. This is the true challenge.
You as a parent are the first person that will shape your child’s life, and what they contribute to this world. It doesn’t mean that you need to make another Einstein or Galileo; it just means you need to develop a child that will help progress human kind into whatever challenge or project we take on. I am not a big reader, but I often thought about checking out Jimmy’s book. Since I am not a reader, it has set back the idea of the book. After I read the article, and the summary of Jimmy’s book, I really believe I would like it. Since I started coming to Harrah Church I look up to Jimmy in a way, and would love to get his insight of a family, the journey to understand Spirituality and his idea of “Shelter”. While going to Harrah church I realized there was another challenge, this other challenge will actually help me with my main challenge. The challenge to understand God and what he wants us to do is this other challenge.
As a parent my childrens salvation is a ominous and burdensome thought. I fear that I may not do enough to lead them the right way, which is why I am inundating them with like minded surroundings. God bless my church family!
