What do you do when things in your life seem to be going from bad to worse?  Its simple−you do what you are supposed to do.  You do the best job you can with the hand you are dealt.  That is what Joseph did and he keeps getting promoted. When he loses his freedom to slavery he is the best slave Potiphar has.

Genesis 39:6 So he left everything he owned in Joseph’s charge; and with him there he did not concern himself with anything except the food which he ate.

When he is thrown in prison he becomes the best prisoner so he ends up running the place.

Genesis 39:22 The chief jailer committed to Joseph’s charge all the prisoners who were in the jail; so that whatever was done there, he was responsible for it. ²³ The chief jailer did not supervise anything under Joseph’s charge because the LORD was with him; and whatever he did, the LORD made to prosper.

Joseph always gave his best regardless of his circumstances.  He didn’t soak in a pool of pity, he played the hand he was dealt to the best of his ability.  He was faithful with the little stuff and God grew him there.  Be your best when everything seems to be at its worst and you’ll prosper!
