Life Change

We all have things in our life that we want to change.  But changing those things can seem impossible to accomplish.  People often work hard trying to change their behavior with willpower.  When I try to change something in my life with willpower alone I get frustrated and usually fail miserably. Life change requires more than sheer willpower.  That is exactly why God preserved His Word for us in the Bible.

1 Thessalonians 2:13 And we also thank God continually because, when you received the word of God, which you heard from us, you accepted it not as the word of men, but as it actually is, the word of God, which is at work in you who believe.

According to this verse we should receive the word, accept it as from God not men, and allow it to work in us through faith.  The Greek word for work is energeo.  In order to change my behavior I must get in the word and allow it to create the spiritual energy necessary to maintain the willpower to change my life.  Instead of trying to change with willpower alone try using the word.  The work of the Word is to bring about life change!
