What is it with LifeChurch.tv?

What is it with all these LifeChurch.tv campuses?  I mean really, who do they think they are?  Today I learned a little bit more about these peculiar people. I was getting my haircut and I met Marcy McConnell who is a staff member of LC’s Campus Operations Team.  She serves as the Host Team Coordinator for all 14 campuses.  She didn’t know me from Adam but we get our hair cut by the same person.  We visited for 40 minutes and she didn’t just talk about LC she wanted to know about Harrah Church.  She was all about the Kingdom and extremely humble.  It was refreshing because I felt like we were on the same team.  So who are these people?  Well my experience with all of them I have encountered leads me to believe that they are indeed fully devoted followers of Christ.  Instead of looking at “Mega Churches” and thinking, “If we had all of their resources we could do what they do” we should be thinking,   “If we acted like them we might have those resources too!”  Just Sayin’.

I am so glad you met Marcy! We were in a Life Group together when we did the “40 Days of Purpose”. These were new groups formed outside of your usual group just for the study. God was so good to us and we had an incredible group. Marcy and her husband, Randy are total embodiments of what God’s love is. Marcy is truly a warrior for the Kingdom and Life Church is so blessed to have her. She is so very humble and a truly genuine person.

  2. So true. All my LC friends are amazing people in the kingdom and I love getting to hang out with them.

I agree! LC doesn’t flaunt their “Mega” church. The people I have met do have a humbleness to them and just want to be on the same team…God’s Team.

Hey Jimmy, I think Life Church is great! Actually, I got saved and baptized there, their south campus has an outreach to a place called Jordan’s Crossing that I’m familiar with. I must admit though, I love Harrah church now so much more because our church is such a more personal church. But Craig at life church isnt bad. ;o)

I have never had a bad experience in dealing with anyone from Lifechurch – they are a great bunch of people. So very giving – of ideas, resources, etc. The megachurch gets a bad wrap. I don’t believe in knocking any ministry – we are all hopefully trying to become closer to God in our walks “fully developed followers of Christ” and reaching others for Him. I’m thrilled to be at this place in time and look forward to see what God wants me to do and what He is going to do at HC.

  7. Jimmy- it was a great privilege to meet you today. Harrah Church, I hope you know what an amazingly, God-filled pastor you have! It’s a humongous honor to be on the same team with all of you as we live and breathe to see people come to love Jesus!

How awesome will it be when we are not known by anything other than FOLLOWERS OF CHRIST! After all, life is all about one thing: sharing our experience with the One who saved our wretched, pitiful lives: JESUS.

We are indeed all on the same team. I hope this spurs us on to actually see and embrace the hugely divine interactions that God gives us to make much of Him.

Meeting Jimmy today showed me that there is life-changing opportunity in every interaction that I have. Even when I have color foils in my hair! :-)

Sometimes it’s easy, from an outsiders standpoint, to try and discredit something that has all the bells and whistles under the notion of fakeness or money driven. There is nothing fake about wanting to win people over for Christ. I think the bells and whistles are a great way to draw a certain crowd in and I’m glad HC is doing the same. Life church certainly drew me in when I was in college doubting my faith for the sheer pleasure of the music production.

    Mark 9:39-40

My heart is happy! I LOVE hearing about the church (i.e. the people who make up the church) loving on each other – despite location, church name, etc.! We are called to lift up each other for our Father greater purposes! Makes me happy to see churches supporting each other! When non-believers see the love – it’s natural to draw them in! So happy to read this post (and comment string). (( Hugs to all brothers and sisters who need it ))!

  10. Wow, came across this article. Love the encouragement and Kingdom mindedness. Makes me think, “What is it with these Harrah Church people?” :) Shows some great leadership from you. This is the stuff that gets me excited when churches are united by vision and purpose. Proud to be doing kingdom work with you all! …and yes, Marcy is a good one!

    God bless!

I go to a church in Ponca City called Life Center. We use all of Life Church’s stuff. We have had many people give their lives to Christ through the generosity of Life Church and their willingness to let others use their materials.

  12. Very awesome to hear! Marcy is cool peoples.. and so is Jeremy Davidson.. =]

I, for one, am very excited that we can all come together and work as one for the Glory of God.

My oldest kid goes to Switch on Wed nights there and loves it. As a matter of fact, when a group of guys from LC I ride with asked me if I wanted to to join their small group, my first reaction was “Well, I don’t go to Life Church”…they’re reply “So?”. A great group of fella’s who realize it’s about “The Church” not “my church”.

Thank the Lord for LifeChurch and for its
witness in the Lord. That organization wasn’t
here when I was saved and became a part of His
kingdom, but praise God a Free Will Baptist
Church was. I hope and pray LifeChurch can
someday post a 70 year convert to Christ if He tarries His coming that long.
