Church is a Piece of Cake
This past weekend I attended two churches. One on Saturday and another on Sunday. Driving away both times I realized that church is a breeze when you aren’t the pastor. It was a piece of cake. We were in and out and still had all of this time to allocate for the rest of our weekend. I think Abby really likes it because she gets help that she’s never had before. Nearly every Sunday of our marriage she has had to function like a single mom. I have always had the responsibility of at least two and for a few years three services. So I would leave the house while the family was still sleeping. Getting 5 children to church on time is the equivalent of a school field trip. Pastors face a lot of pressure and this is just one thing I am enjoying during this season away from ministry. Take some time and pray for a pastor and his family today, they need it!
I’m glad you’re able to be there for Abby now, that’s great. You all can finally work as a family unit, not just Abby! I’m glad y’all are enjoying church too, I bet being a pastor can sometimes be so stressful that its hard to enjoy church. I’m glad you all are doing well. You are all missed. Luv y’all.
Amen! Its hard for the support staff. I cant imagine the stress on the pastor. Each week I have to get up at 6 to get all my gear together, loaded in the car, breakfast, unload, setup , tuning, practicing, performing, tear down.. argh!! LOL I LOVE it, but I can see where it can take its toll on the pastor who has all the other obligations and responsibilities. Missing ya Pastor!

I never really realized how a pastor really functions. I am reading a book called the 10 dumbest things Christians do. This book is written by Mark Atterberry who is a pastor in Florida. It is also written from his point of view. I was floored when I read the book. Pastors are taken for granted. Pastors are the most hardest working individuals around! I am so glad that you are able to enjoy your family and enjoy being a church attender.
It’s awesome that you guys are able to enjoy the service together to. When is the last time (before this weekend) that you and Abby have sat through an entire worship service. I’m sure Abby and the kids are soaking up all this precious time they have with you.
Shannon we have been able to worship on vacation but it is a lot different when you aren’t a pastor. I’m going to enjoy it because I am sure it is only for a season.
