God loves beggars!  When Jesus said blessed are the poor in spirit I believe He had prayer in mind.  A person who is poor in spirit is a spiritual pauper.  Paupers rely on others for relief.  They get so desperate they are willing to beg for assistance.

Satan dreads nothing but prayer.  The Church that lost its Christ was full of good works.  Activities are multiplied that meditation may be ousted, and organizations are increased that prayer may have no chance.

Beware of the trap of meaninglessness.  It is so easy to be controlled by what others think.  The clothes we wear, the cars we drive, the homes we buy, etc., are all chosen to reflect our identity.

When I was a kid my oldest brother would put me in the headlock and squeeze until I called him daddy.  I had to submit because he was too strong for me to overcome.

We all have things in our life that we want to change.  But changing those things can seem impossible to accomplish.  People often work hard trying to change their behavior with willpower.  When I try to change something in my life with willpower alone I get frustrated and usually fail miserably.

Worship is a way of life.  We are constantly worshipping something—Everyone worships! Religion is that which binds a man.  Every man is bound somewhere, somehow, to a throne, to a government, to an authority, to something that is supreme, to something to which he offers sacrifice, and burns incense, and bends the knee.—G. Since writing yesterday’s post the Lord has enlightened me a little more with this whole idea of bondage.  When the word is thrown out there I think our minds immediately jump to two conclusions.  I am either free or in bondage.

Life is challenging!  It can be difficult to stay motivated when the challenges seem overwhelming.  The key is in perspective.  As one of the leaders at Harrah Church often says, “We don’t have to eat the elephant in one bite.”

Temptation is a constant part of our lives and there are dire consequences when we succumb to it so we better learn how to manage it.  Here is what the Bible has taught me about managing temptation. 

It is amazing to me how we are able to convince ourselves that we can get away with rebellion from God without harm.  It is simply not possible!  There are always consequences when we allow temptation to get the best of us.
